Recommended Hardware For Office Environment
Network Requirements
Installing A New Internet Connection
The best option for any internet phone installation is to install a separate internet connection for the phone calls. This involves obtaining a secondary internet connection and either running new cabling or using our wireless option.
Wireless option
To avoid running new cabling you can purchase a Wireless Receiver (“Dongle”) for each phone device. This picks up the signals from our wireless ADSL modem. Over 30 phone devices can be run wirelessly.
Utilising an Existing Internet Connection
A number of the phone models can be plugged into the same internet jack as the PC. It is important however to install a modem/router with Quality Of Service (“QOS”) functionality – this insures the internet line gives priority to the phone calls.
4 Port QOS Wireless or Non-Wireless ADSL modem
Our 4 port modem allows you to run up to 4 PCs and 4 phones. The wireless version allows over 30 additional phones to run over wireless.
Larger Routers
Larger offices may need to replace their current router with a “QOS” switch. These QOS switches come in different sizes, generally allowing connectivity for 8, 16, 24 or 48 devices.
